each day, little brenda tries her best. each day, little brenda tries her best.
each day, little brenda cries after being careful that no one is around.
each day, little brenda cries. she cries not because she fails to understand herself. she cries because she fails to understand herself through her family. do these people really belong here? they do. they do. but does she really belong here? she doesn’t. she doesn’t. she tells herself she cannot. how do you laugh with those who laugh at you? she has to learn to laugh with them. she has to learn. or else, she will be caught. she will be caught like the little bunny who tried making his burrow in a foreign village. she knows. she will be caught.

she longs for a place that knows her. as long as the place feels for her, it is okay if it is foreign, it is okay if it is unknown. in fact, she longs for a place she has never known.

little bunny dies in the end. but gives birth to three little bunnies and they live in a land foreign to them. they live in a land unexplored. how adventurous, how free, to not have rules. how free it is to be in a foreign land. she determines she will not die like the little bunny and will live to see her bunnies jump in a foreign land. she will live, she decides, to see her true family in freedom.

but each day, little brenda finds it too hard. each day, little brenda thinks she can’t do this anymore.
each day, little brenda feels she is failing. but each day, she dreams more. each day, she does not give up.

each day, little brenda perseveres.
