Sometimes, I am scared of the weight of the nothingness I hold within me.
Sometimes, I forget myself as you do.

When I look in the mirror,
I feel like I’m dementia’s stolen face.

I would have had no problem wrapping myself in solitude again but
solitude is not as warm as you are. In solitude, I am left with
myself. And, sometimes, I am a little unkind.
Sometimes, I am a little unkind even to myself.

I no longer know how you find yourself.
What do you relate to?
What touches you like nothing else does?

Can I touch you like that?

Maybe it is important to know ourselves because then,
we can get scared for real. We can know all that we can do.
We can know that just because we can do something, it doesn’t mean we have to.
We learn that only when we fear ourselves, our capacities, can we try and do things that’ll not frighten others, at least not intentionally.
